The quote I like, though I can't remember where I found it, is "suicide happens when pain exceeds resources for coping with pain". We never know exactly why anyone attempts suicide, because everyone's circumstances are different and their minds private, but I think excess pain, physical or psychological, is always the reason. The most we can do is try to lessen people's pain; the least is not to create more.
